Senior Interior Designer, Sandton

Our client is looking for a strong senior-level candidate who combines high-end interior design capability with commercial acumen, client-facing confidence and sales ability. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing the full lifecycle of a project, rather than focusing solely on concept development.

The key requirements are as follows:

• Position: Senior Interior Designer

• Location: Kramerville, Sandton

• Employment: Permanent, subject to probation

• Remuneration: Approximately R30,000 per month, negotiable depending on experience, technical capability and portfolio

• Working arrangement: Primarily on-site

• Working week: six days per week, aligned with the client's showroom and operational requirements

• Commencement: As soon as possible; immediately available candidates would be advantageous

• Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a closely related field

• Experience: Minimum 7 years' professional interior design experience, preferably in luxury residential, high-end hospitality or premium commercial interiors

• Software: Strong proficiency in relevant design software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Enscape, Lumion or similar

• Commercial capability: Strong sales, negotiation and closing skills, with confidence engaging high-net-worth and high-value clients

• Portfolio: Compulsory. Candidates must provide a portfolio demonstrating completed high-end projects and not merely renders or mood boards.

The role will include client consultations, concept development, space planning, 3D visualisation, technical drawings, bespoke cabinetry and joinery design, material and furniture selection, site measurements and inspections, supplier and contractor coordination, procurement support, installation, styling and final handover.

Importantly, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate that they have taken projects from the initial client brief through technical development and site execution to final installation and handover. The successful candidate should be creative but practical, highly organised and accountable, commercially minded and comfortable managing several projects simultaneously.

Given the client-facing nature of the position, we will be looking at the candidates presentation skills, ability to sell a design concept, commercial awareness, negotiation ability and capacity to manage demanding clients professionally.
